Our first-ever our site Summit held on February 10, 2018, in Chicago, Illinois, ended with a BANG. We had the opportunity to meet hundreds of Chicago Public School students hear words of wisdom from Chance The Rapper, Jesse Williams, and our very own Christopher Gray. Most importantly, award a scholarship to one CPS Senior!

Meet Alexiea Feaster, the $10,000 our site Summit Scholarship winner. Alexiea aspires to be a doctor, and we are honored to contribute to her academic success!

Alexiea is this week’s our site Guest Blogger as part of her journey, sharing a bit about her background and educational goals to inspire more students like her to pursue their dreams, pursue higher education, and become a part of the our site Family.

Hello, everyone!
My name is Alexiea Feaster, and I am delighted to have been awarded this scholarship! I am currently a senior at William J. Bogan High School in Chicago, Illinois, with dreams of attending Xavier University of Louisiana in pursuit of becoming a doctor…for free, and our website has helped me get one step closer to that goal. I hope to one day save the lives of those who are hurting and helpless, and Xavier’s pre-med program will best prepare me to do so.

The our site app has been a massive help in matching me to scholarships that are the best fit for me and my goals, and the best part is that it saves time and eliminates the confusion that many students experience when searching for scholarships online. In addition to using the app, I had the opportunity to attend our site Summit, which was an incredibly eye-opening experience that I am grateful to have had. Derrius Quarles struck a chord with me the most out of all the speakers we heard. He is known as the “Million-Dollar Scholar” and is from Chicago. “What you need to know now is that it’s bigger than you,” he said, meaning that life will bring us trauma, failure, and obstacles, but all of that is part of a much bigger picture of our success. We cannot become engrossed in these micro-moments and allow negativity to bring us down. Most importantly, we must accept assistance earlier to make the road to success easier and pass that knowledge on to others. I was inspired, motivated, and realized my purpose when he said this.

I understand that to achieve greatness; I must consider the lives of others because how can an economy thrive if no one can pass knowledge on to the next person? Thank you for this scholarship and opportunity, our website. You have paved the way for my success, and I hope I can continue to make you proud!

Alexia, congratulations! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish.
